Personal Assistants operate from a variety of different environments and encompass a wide range of roles. Whether working from a private residence or within a family office, Personal Assistants manage the daily scheduling, errand running, and ad hoc projects for and on behalf of a principal directly. Personal assistants may work independently or as part of a larger team. They may also report to a higher level domestic manager such as a House Manager or Chief of Staff, while some Personal assistants report directly to the principal.
Family offices are generally run by a managerial level team leader often called the Chief of Staff or Chief Operating Officer. This role manages all personal aspects of the principal’s daily life and delegates tasks to additional domestic and family office team members. The Chief of Staff / Chief Operating Officer is responsible for the organization of all residences and the teams that directly manage them.
- Assisting with calendar planning, scheduling, travel coordination, and meeting logistics
- Coordinating various private functions and events
- Answering calls and responding to emails from vendors, contractors, staff members, and coworkers on various issues
- Working in tandem with various other domestic staff
- Preparing and tracking expenses, inventories, gifting, schedules, etc.
- Impeccable attention to detail, meticulous in coordination and scheduling
- Ability to exercise quick and accurate judgement on behalf of principal
- Technologically savvy, able to manage and troubleshoot various communication and organisational platforms

Main Responsibilities generally include:
- Managing the Family Office; acting as direct gatekeeper for the Principals
- Hiring, terminating and training domestic staff
- Coordinating all vendors, contractors, staff members, and business connections on behalf of the Principals
- Implementing estate-wide systems including but not limited to, operating manuals, punch lists, household supply lists, etc.
Outstanding candidate for such position should be:
- Highly meticulous, ability to manage big picture and small details simultaneously Ability to exercise quick and accurate judgment and work well in high-stress, high-stakes environment
- Effective and proactive problem-solver; able to analyze situations thoroughly in order to anticipate problems before they arise
- Ability to manage executive / administrative and domestic teams, superb delegating skills required
- Strong bookkeeping / accounting skills with the ability to formulate and adhere to budgets;
- PA salary starts from £500 net per week and can go up to £1300 net per week. Full-time annual salary depends on candidate’s credentials, experience, and duties, as well as previous salaries had.
- Room & board to be provided by the family.
- Salary guide is based on a 5 or 5 and half day work week, 8-12hrs a day, and is presented to you as a guide. Final salary always varies depending on the overall package offered.
- Higher paid salaries, also comes with expectations to be on call 24/7.
- The Family Office Chief of Staff (COS) salaries ranges from £ 50,000 to £ 100,000 gross per annum plus benefits, and it depends on experience and tasks and responsibilities.

Once you’ve decided what type of services you’re looking for, you need to register with Forbes Private Staff by filling out our client registration form. This will ask you to list your candidate preferences and unique requirements, as well as you will be able to read our Term of Business and familiarise yourself with our fees. Once registration is received, your information will be carefully reviewed by a member of our staff who will then contact you directly to discuss all your specific requirements in a greater detail, to note down all the final information we need to start your perfect candidate search.

Placement Fees
At Forbes Private Staff it is crucial that the candidate you choose is the right match for your family, and to ensure this we provide 12 weeks of free replacement and ongoing after-placement support.
UK Placements
- Client registration Fee – FREE
- Permanent Full-Time Placement in Childcare (52 weeks + ) - 15% of the Annual Salary
- Permanent Full-Time Placement in Private Household (52 weeks +) – 15% of the Annual Salary
- Full-time Governess or Tutor Placements – 17% of the Annual Salary
- Full-Time Dual Residency Placements - required to work in the UK and Overseas - 18% of the Annual Salary
- Part-Time Governess or Tutor Placements – 19% of the Annual Salary
- After School Childcare Placements – 18% of the Annual Salary
- Part-Time Placements in Childcare and Private Households – 18% of the Annual Salary
- Maternity Nurses - £170 per week, min 2 weeks.
- Temporary Placements – £100 per day or £450 per week.
- Trials - £450 per week, up to 4 consecutive weeks; or fixed daily fee of £90.
Overseas Placements
- Client Registration Fee - FREE for Permanent Placements
- Client Registration Fee - £100 for Temporary or Holiday Placements
- All Permanent Placements – 20% of the Annual Salary
- Maternity Nurses - £230 per week, min 2 weeks
- Temporary Placements – £100 per day or £500 per week.
- Trials - £500 per week, up to 4 consecutive weeks.
