Private Chef
Private Chefs are responsible for all culinary operations within a residence, most commonly for lunches and dinners daily, as well as for all special events. The Private Chef must be willing and comfortable working with various dietary restrictions and food sensitivities while offering a wide variety of menus and meals.
Our Chefs and Cooks have extremely high standards and experience, with many of them holding a Head Chef position in esteemed hotels, restaurants and prestigious Country Estates.
Our chefs prepare foods to suit each family’s taste. Our candidates are experienced with a variety of cuisines, including Italian, French, Thai, Japanese, Chinese, Mexican. They can prepare foods according to your dietary requirements, such as vegetarian, vegan, kosher, macrobiotic, gluten-free, low-fat, low-sodium, diabetic, and for sports nutrition.
- Preparing daily meals for the principals and their guests with a focus on dietary restrictions, preferences and needs
- Providing coverage for the entire culinary operation from menu planning, to shopping, prepping, cooking, plating, service, clearing and post-meal kitchen clean up
- Ensuring the kitchen is properly stocked at all times. Maintaining inventories of supply levels, equipment, expiry dates and on-hand ingredients
- Familiarity with many different cuisines and dietary restrictions
- Ability to work at different levels of volume and flexibility to quickly adjust timing, quantities, and meal plans based on guests
- Advance menu planning
It is possible to hire a chef / cook in conjunction with other job titles. Some examples may include:

- A Chef/Cook can also be part of a domestic working couple and can be part of the duties of either partner
- Starting salaries are from £800 to £1000 upwards net per week. Full-time annual salary depends on chef’s credentials, experience, and duties, as well as previous salaries had.
- Room & board to be provided by the family.
- Salary guide is based on a 5 day work week, 8-12hrs a day, and is presented to you as a guide. Final salary always varies depending on the overall package offered.

Placement Fees
At Forbes Private Staff it is crucial that the candidate you choose is the right match for your family, and to ensure this we provide 12 weeks of free replacement and ongoing after-placement support.
UK Placements
- Client registration Fee – FREE
- Permanent Full-Time Placement in Childcare (52 weeks + ) - 15% of the Annual Salary
- Permanent Full-Time Placement in Private Household (52 weeks +) – 15% of the Annual Salary
- Full-time Governess or Tutor Placements – 17% of the Annual Salary
- Full-Time Dual Residency Placements - required to work in the UK and Overseas - 18% of the Annual Salary
- Part-Time Governess or Tutor Placements – 19% of the Annual Salary
- After School Childcare Placements – 18% of the Annual Salary
- Part-Time Placements in Childcare and Private Households – 18% of the Annual Salary
- Maternity Nurses - £170 per week, min 2 weeks.
- Temporary Placements – £100 per day or £450 per week.
- Trials - £450 per week, up to 4 consecutive weeks; or fixed daily fee of £90.
Overseas Placements
- Client Registration Fee - FREE for Permanent Placements
- Client Registration Fee - £100 for Temporary or Holiday Placements
- All Permanent Placements – 20% of the Annual Salary
- Maternity Nurses - £230 per week, min 2 weeks
- Temporary Placements – £100 per day or £500 per week.
- Trials - £500 per week, up to 4 consecutive weeks.
